Mponua Rural Bank Limited was incorporated under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) on 18th January, 1983 and licensed by Bank of Ghana under the then Banking Act, 1970 (Act 339) to commence Banking business at Amuana Praso – the headquarters of the Bank on 16th September 1983.

The establishment of Mponua Rural Bank Limited idea was spearheaded by Opanyin Kwaku Anin – Deceased, Nana Gyamua Amuana I - Queen mother of Amuana Praso, Nana Ahenkora Marfo II – Krontihene of Amuana Praso and Mr. S. L. Ofori- Owusu – First Board Chairman of the Bank.
